Jefferson County’s existing Comprehensive Plan was completed in 1991 and is available for review at the Jefferson County Department of Development’s office.  The plan identifies and assesses a broad range of social, economic, environmental and transportation related issues.  Under the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Code, it is now required that counties update their plans every 10 years due to the changing issues within the various areas.

Jefferson County is currently in the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan, with the assistance of The EADS Group.  The overall intent of the plan will be to provide a framework to manage, enhance, and preserve the natural and cultural environment within Jefferson County today, and in the future.  This document will serve as a roadmap to help lead Jefferson County into tomorrow, while preserving the values of today.

The Comprehensive Plan will be completed and available for review at the Department of Development office in early 2005.
