County is host to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania
Punxsutawney Campus. Most students stay only for their freshmen
year and then continue their education at the main campus
located 26 miles away. However, this campus does offer a
nationally recognized academy of culinary arts. The Academy
offers a student to instructor ratio of 14:1, world-class chefs
for instructors, and job placement rates that are among the best
in the nation.
The
Penn State DuBois Campus, located only 3 miles from Jefferson
County, offers numerous four-year degrees, associate and
graduate level degrees. Students may also earn the first two
years worth of credits for over 100 Penn State four-year
programs. Over 1,000 students participate in undergraduate,
advanced credit and special interest courses offered at the
DuBois Campus located close by.
The Jefferson County Public Library Federation includes the
Brookville, Brockway, Reynoldsville, Sykesville, Summerville,
and Punxsutawney Libraries.
A variety of cultural events are available in Jefferson County
for those whose interests include music, dance, concerts,

Punxsutawney Community Theater’s offers community
theater performance, choral concerts, and art exhibits
showcasing local and regional artists. The historic Sawmill
Theatre located in Cooks Forest also presents community theater
performances. Further cultural opportunities are provided by
Penn State’s DuBois Campus and University Park Campus and
Clarion University of PA, all located nearby.
