Jefferson County has two*
accredited medical facilities, with emergency rooms, intensive
care units and up-to-date diagnostic and treatment procedures.

These community owned facilities provide routine health care and
services, critical care support, special programs, seminars, and
house over 100 local practicing physicians representing every
medical specialty. There are a substantial number of dentists
and pharmacists in private practice throughout the county.
Each facility has access to a major metropolitan hospitals in
Pittsburgh or Erie via 20-minute helicopter ride.
Most county emergency response services are coordinated through
Jefferson County Control, including six ambulance squads, which
work in conjunction with the 21 volunteer fire stations in the
county. Every member is trained thoroughly through his or her
organization to be prepared for any emergency or hazardous
situation.

County also offers four excellent health care complexes,
Jefferson Manor Health Centers, Highland View Health Center,
Pennsylvania Memorial Home and Mulberry Square, which provide
specialized medical care and rehabilitation as well as short or
long term nursing care. |
