The
Jefferson County Department of Development oversees the
County’s initiatives into Planning and Community Development.
The County is involved with a wide variety of planning
and community development initiatives.
The department plays a major role in guiding and
coordinating the overall development of Jefferson County with
regard to land use and development issues and implements
programs through the preparation of plans and the administration
of grants and ordinances.
Examples of the department’s efforts include:
transportation planning; developing of rails-to-trails projects;
assisting with the development on parks and recreational
projects; developing the County’s comprehensive plan,
developing storm water management plans, maintaining a
computerized GIS mapping system; administering the Community
Development Block Grant Program, operate a county wide homeowner
housing rehabilitation program, etc.
