  • Register & Recorder Clerk

    The objective of this position is to perform specialized departmental clerical duties and responsibilities.

    Applicants MUST have their High School Diploma or an equivalent. Business/clerical and computer training PREFERRED.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the general public by taking/providing information, processing required documents, maintaining Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable, and assisting staff with clerical duties in the absence of other clerical staff members.

  • Assistant Chief Clerk & Voter Registration/Elections Clerk

    The objective of this position is to perform varied secretarial and administrative functions for the County Commissioners and Chief Clerk in a timely manner to assure efficient operation of the department, acting as a liaison between the department and other county agencies and/or departments. In addition, the objective of this position is to coordinate all county voter registration activities; the Voter Registration/Elections Clerk shall ensure that all county voters are registered in an accurate and timely manner and that registrations are sent to the required agencies.

    Applicants MUST have their High School Diploma or an equivalent and receive their notary public certification.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the general public by taking/providing information, providing secretarial support to the Commissioners, acting as Chief Clerk in their absence, providing notary services, and performing election duties as assigned.

  • Temporary Deputy Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts

    The objective of this position is to file, organize, and record all documents and files as well as index and process civil and criminal documents, maintain records, and prepare reports.

    Applicants MUST have their High School Diploma or an equivalent. Business/legal and computer training PREFERRED with work experience in legal background.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the general public by taking/providing information, executing passport applications, notarizing/certifying/signing all legal documents, processing list for jury selection, attending court, and assuring all state agencies receive money owed to them.

  • Field Assessor

    The objective of this position is to assist in the evaluation of all real estate/property, transfer ownership in accordance with applicable state and county regulations, and plot deed descriptions to maps and computers.

    Applicants MUST have their High School Diploma or an equivalent. Within 3 years of their hire, applicants MUST obtain (and maintain) a Certified Pennsylvania Evaluator license and fulfill mandatory education courses required as approved by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with tax questions, assessing properties, surveying the entire county for changes, computing the value of real property, and transferring deed transactions.

  • Director of Economic Development

    The objective of this position is to formulate, recommend, and carry out economic development policies, programs, budgets, and objectives and act as a liaison between the public and private sectors; the objective is also to assist businesses in their efforts to locate, expand, or maintain operations in Jefferson County.

    A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred or five years relevant working experience. Within one year of their hire, applicants MUST obtain (and maintain) their state Economic Development certification.

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conceptualizing and preparing a county marketing strategy, directing coordination and communication with the JCDC, developing promotional materials and presentations for development opportunities within the county, developing methods for researching and maintaining data, and establishing working relationships with other businesses.

    The Director is required to represent on the following boards: North Central Full Board, CEDS Committee, Jefferson County Planning Commission Board, and Jefferson County Director of Economic Development. The Director is required to represent as Executive Director of the following boards: Jefferson County Development Council, Jefferson County Industrial Development Authority, Jefferson County Municipal Authority, and Jefferson County Hospital Authority.
